Why we love the Eumundi Markets!

Why the Eumundi Markets?

When we launched St. Maartin last year, our aim was to become an online store. Simple. Online is King (or Queen) it seems, and apparently it’s the way of the future. But… we felt something was missing.

YOU.

That’s what was missing. Personal interaction with our gorgeous customers.

How do we know what you like and don’t like or what you want and don’t want, if we don’t actually talk to you? Sure, we can ask questions and do polls online, but nothing beats a good heart-to-heart with a real-life person, in a physical shop environment.

In our little market shop, you can feel the exquisite quality of the linens we use and experience firsthand the quality craftmanship involved in producing our designs - we have plenty of customers who sew who can attest to that!

We also feel that women our age often like to try clothes on - our market shop allows us to do this and gain essential feedback on our products, which we really appreciate.

Plus, one of our most important business values is service - we want to provide the best service to our customers that we possibly can and physically being able to do this has been a very rewarding experience for us.

Opening a physical store, in today’s economic environment, involves an enormous financial commitment and we feel our funds are better off in production and design, rather than invested in a shop.

We see our pop-up shop at the Eumundi Markets on the beautiful Sunshine Coast as the next best thing to a physical shop, in the foreseeable future at least.

Why Eumundi in particular?

Well, there are a number of other smaller markets on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane, many of which we love and have participated in, and hope to again in the future (in fact let us know where you would like to find us!). Nothing, however, comes close to Eumundi in terms of foot traffic and the opportunity for us to reach as many potential marketgoers from far and wide.

In fact, over 1.2 Million people visit the Eumundi Markets each year!

The setting is lovely, with big shady trees and an adjacent park, and loads of fabulous food, all just over 20 km from Noosa Heads.

The market is divided into a number of different sections with a vast array of interesting products in over 600 stalls.

It’s a shopper’s delight and a must-do for visitors to the Sunshine Coast.

So far we have only been casuals at the market, (which makes for an interesting set-up at 6am when we find ourselves in a different site of different dimensions each week!) but we are hoping to become permanent soon.

At present, we are generally located in the ‘Parkside’ area, which is at the top of the market, near the Garage, just off the Eumundi main street.

Plenty of successful clothing labels have started with humble beginnings at markets like Eumundi - we’re planning to become another one!

Find us at the Eumundi Markets on Wednesdays - pop in and say hi!
