What is Antique Wash Linen?

When we started our fashion journey we had no idea that linen could vary so much in quality and composition. There are linens of all weights, dye types and finishes; linen blends, organic linen… the list goes on.
Antique linen wash is durable, super comfortable linen with a matt finish. This type of wash involves bulking out the fabric to make it heavier, giving it a very relaxed texture. This brings out the weave texture in the fabric and creates a very heavy wash and relaxed feel. This treatment also enhances the linen's softness and creates a beautiful drape. It features a simple plain weave and solid dye. It is widely used in the fashion industry due to its versatility.
The antique wash linen used in Monique and Eve features a plain weave and a solid dye. It is an extremely popular fabric that will soften increasingly with wash and wear, and like all linen get better with time.
The linen used in both our Monique tie top and Eve pants has an Oek-Tex Standard 100 Certification - one of the world’s best-known certification labels for textiles tested for harmful substances.
So are Monique and Eve created using exactly the same linen?
Well, almost, but not exactly!
Both are made with antique wash linen, however, this linen differs in weight. Monique is made with lighter-weight linen, perfect for a blouse, while Eve is made with medium-weight linen which is a wonderful option for pants.
